
To get admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), candidates have to first clear JEE Mains. Only those who are successful in this can appear in JEE Advanced. After this, admission to IIT is given through JoSAA counseling based on the JEE Advanced ranking, but two IITs out of 23 have reserved seats for admission through sports quota. These include IIT Madras and IIT Indore, where one can apply for admission through sports quota till June 12.
How many seats are reserved through the sports quota
IIT Madras and IIT Indore have reserved seats for admission through sports quota, under which IIT Madras has reserved 24 seats (2 seats in each course) in total 12 courses of B.Tech for students of sports quota, while IIT Indore has reserved 9 seats in 9 courses i.e. one seat in each course for admission through sports quota.

One can apply online for admission in sports quota seats at IIT Madras and IIT Indore. IIT Indore is following the rules prescribed by IIT Madras for admission through sports quota, while the applications are being centralized, under which applications can be made online by visiting https://ugadmissions.iitm.ac.in/sea/admission/ till 5 pm on June 12.
What are the rules for application?
Talking about the rules prescribed for admission to IIT Madras and IIT Indore, the applicant should have passed JEE Advanced 2025. Along with this, there should be prescribed marks in 12th. On the other hand, the candidate applying should have obtained any rank or medal in any national or international competition in the last 4 years.
A student participating in any gold, silver, broch, or national competition will be given 35, 25, 15, and 0 marks respectively. Similarly, Gold, Silver, Branch and participating students in international level talent will be given 100, 90, 80, and 50 marks respectively. Merit for admission in sports quota will be prepared through these marks. Seat allotment for the first round will be on 19th June. Whereas seat allotment for the second round will be on 10th July.
