Hiring someone for the first time is supposed to be exciting, but for one man in Delhi, it turned into a terrifying experience. In a post shared on Reddit, a young employer working at his father’s furniture shop claimed a new employee made excuses, disappeared with money, and later threatened him with violence.
The employer had hired the man through a popular job portal. But the employee didn’t turn up on the agreed joining date. “He delayed joining for 3–4 days, saying he was unwell,” the employer wrote. When he finally arrived, the employer wasn’t in the office. The employee called, saying he came only to talk to him. The next day, he worked a little and asked for Rs 500, saying he needed it for an ultrasound.
The threat deeply unsettled the employer. Though he believed the man was bluffing, the thought of him showing up with people was scary. “He said I worked one day. You promised Rs 25,000/month, so I’m owed Rs 850,” the post added.
People on Reddit quickly responded. One user wrote, “Don’t think someone threatening over Rs 350 can do much. But always stay cautious.” Another asked if the employer had a signed contract with terms and conditions. “In the future, always get a written agreement,” they advised.
A helpful user suggested reporting the man’s profile on the job portal. “Send him a formal email saying he was paid Rs 500 for the hours he worked. Let him know his employment is terminated. Tell him that if he threatens again, you’ll file a police complaint.”
Another said, “He’s clearly a fraud. Don’t be scared. Block him and move on. Just do a proper background check next time.”
