New Delhi: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday June 9. During a special event held in London World Cup-winning captain Dhoni was included in the list of seven great players who received this honor for their outstanding contribution to the long and glorious history of cricket. Dhoni became the 11th Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame Dhoni is the 11th Indian player to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Earlier legends like Sachin Tendulkar Sunil Gavaskar Anil Kumble have been included in this list. Apart from this South Africas Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith New Zealands Daniel Vettori were also included in this prestigious list. Women cricketers also got honors Apart from male cricketers Englands great Sarah Taylor and former Pakistan captain Sana Mir have also been inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Initiation and purpose of ICC Hall of Fame The ICC Hall of Fame was launched on 2 January 2009 in Dubai. This initiative was done in collaboration with the ICC and the Federation of International Cricketers Associations (FICA) which aims to honor the legends who have contributed to the history of cricket. This years seven new Hall of Famers have joined the total 115 Hall of Famers so far.
