Increased Support for Victims of Wild Animal Attacks

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha state administration has declared an increase in the compensation amount for individuals who lose their lives due to wild animal attacks, raising it from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, according to an official announcement.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has endorsed this proposal, recognizing the significant impact of wild animal attacks on both life and property, particularly in regions adjacent to forests.

Additionally, the government has introduced measures to assist those whose homes have suffered damage from wild animals.

In cases where a residence is affected, the impacted individuals will either receive a dwelling unit through the Antyaodoya Griha Yojana or financial aid equivalent to the value of the house, as stated by the Chief Minister's Office.

For damages to kitchens, grain storage facilities, or goat sheds, a compassionate assistance sum of Rs 3,000 will be allocated.

Furthermore, if a concrete or compound wall is damaged, the government will provide Rs 5,000 per meter, with a cap of Rs 25,000.
