Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has denied any "fraud by or against the company" in its recruitment process and clarified that no key managerial personnel were found to be involved after an internal investigation in the alleged bribes-for-jobs scam case. However, the company acknowledged the existence of a complaint related to the case in the recruitment process for contract resources.

Earlier, Mint reported that a few senior executives in TCS were accepting bribes for years from staffing agencies for giving jobs to their candidates. It led to the sacking of four officials from its resource management group (RMG) and the banning of three staffing companies. The report said that the whistleblower has alleged that the global head of TCS’s resource management group (RMG), the company’s recruitment division, had been accepting commissions from staffing firms for years. Citing an executive of the company, the report also said the “scandal” may have involved Rs 100 crore.

TCS Refutes Allegations Of RMG's Involvement

The IT major in an exchange filing on Friday said, "The recruitment activities in TCS are not handled by the Resource Management Group (RMG) as alleged, therefore the reference to alleged scam in recruitment process is incorrect. RMG is responsible for allocation of available resources to various projects and incase of any shortfall, fill such requirements through contractors. The complaint referred to in the article relates to hiring of such contract resources employed by the contractors."

"On receipt of the complaint, the Company launched a review to examine the allegations in the complaint. Based on the review: (i) this does not involve any fraud by or against the Company and no financial impact; (ii) the issue relates to breach of Company’s Code of Conduct by certain employees and vendors providing contractors; and (iii) no key managerial person of the Company has been found to be involved," it added. 

Meanwhile, as per a MoneyControl report, the Pune-based labour union, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), has written to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, addressing the matter related to the alleged scam in the recruitment process.
