ISRO Shares Details on Gaganyaan Launch

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has provided comprehensive information for the public to watch the launch of its Gaganyaan mission to the International Space Station. According to ISRO, the live broadcast of the astronaut launch can be viewed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/live/J1xfppWABZo. In a video message shared by Axiom Space, Group Captain Shubhashu Shukla delivered an inspiring message before his departure. The video highlighted his technical expertise and described him as a fighter pilot for 15 years.

A Journey Inspired by Legends

In the video message, Shukla stated, "Hello, I am Group Captain Shubhashu Shukla. The first Indian astronaut, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, traveled to space in 1984. I have read about him in books and listened to his stories from space. I was greatly inspired by him. My journey has been long, starting from somewhere I never imagined would lead me here. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to fly in my lifetime, which was a dream, and now to apply for the astronaut core, and here I am. I found out about my mission just a week before arriving at Axiom, and I was extremely excited to be here. It truly felt like a chance to fly in space, and it's hard to describe how one reacts to such news."

A Historic Mission for India and Beyond

Group Captain Shubhashu Shukla is part of Axiom Space's fourth private astronaut mission (Ax-4), marking a significant moment for India's space collaboration with NASA. According to Axiom Space, the Ax-4 mission will realize the 'return' of human spaceflight for India, Poland, and Hungary, representing each country's first government-sponsored flight in over 40 years. While this will be the second human spaceflight mission for these nations, it will be the first time that all three will conduct a mission to the International Space Station together. This historic mission underscores how Axiom Space is redefining access to low Earth orbit and advancing national space programs globally. The Ax-4 crew includes members from India, Poland, and Hungary, making it a landmark event in the history of space exploration for each country. Shubhashu Shukla will become India's second national astronaut to travel to space since 1984.
