
Four people, including a teenage boy, have been arrested following the unexplained death of a baby. Cleveland Police officers were called to an address in Middlesbrough on Saturday, June 7 following the death of an infant. The force has confirmed that their passing is being treated as "unexplained".
A 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy have both been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child. A 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have also been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. All four people have been interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries. Detectives have been carrying out enquiries at the Middlesbrough address as part of the investigation over the weekend.
Officers were spotted at the scene on Saturday afternoon. A Cleveland Police spokesperson said over the weekend: "Officers were called to an address in Middlesbrough earlier today, Saturday, June 7, following the death of a baby.
"The death is being treated as unexplained and detectives have been carrying out some enquiries at the address. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased child at this sad and difficult time."
