Health Desk. Pregnancy is a natural process, which passes through many biological stages. The question often arises that how much time does it take to get pregnant after sex? Does this happen immediately or does it take a few days? In this health report, we will find scientific and practical answers to this question.
Sperm and egg union
When sexual relations are formed and the male’s semen enters the woman’s uterus, millions of sperm reach the fallopian tube via the cervix. If the woman is having ovulation at that time – that is, the egg has come out of the ovary – then sperm can meet the egg. This process is called fertilization.
Time talk: This process starts in minutes, but may take several days to complete. Actually, sperm can reach the fallopian tube within a few minutes of sex. If the egg is available at that time, the fertilization can occur within a few hours. But pregnancy does not end there. The fertilized egg has to reach the uterus and install it in its wall, causing real pregnancy. This process is completed 6 to 10 days after fertilization.
Ovulation time is decisive
There are only a few days in the menstrual cycle of the woman when the probability of conception is the most likely. This is called Fertile Window – usually it occurs about 12 to 16 days before the start of periods. If sexual relations occur during this period, the probability of conception is the highest.
When will women do their pregnancy test?
Home pregnancy test or blood test is necessary to correct pregnancy. This test should usually be performed after 12 to 14 days of sex, ie after the next menstrual date.
