Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, known for his intensity and no-nonsense approach on the field, lost his temper during a Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025 match, and the moment has gone viral on social media.

Ashwin's angry reaction to dismissal

The incident took place during the match between Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans. Ashwin, captaining Dindigul, was visibly upset after being declared out by the on-field umpire.

While batting first, Ashwin had already exhausted both DRS reviews—one of them controversially used for a wide call.

Soon after, he was struck on the pad by a delivery from IDream captain R Sai Kishore, prompting a loud appeal. The female umpire ruled Ashwin out LBW, but the veteran off-spinner believed the ball had pitched outside the leg stump.

Furious at the decision, Ashwin confronted the umpire on the field, engaging in a heated argument. After expressing his displeasure, he eventually walked off the pitch, striking his pad with the bat in frustration—a moment that has now been widely shared online.

Replays suggested that the ball may have pitched outside the leg stump and was likely missing the stumps altogether, lending credibility to Ashwin’s frustration.

Captain Ravichandran Ashwin managed just 18 runs in a lackluster batting performance. Shivam Singh supported him with 30 runs, and Jayant contributed 18 towards the end. Unfortunately, no other batsman reached double digits, restricting the team to a low total of 93 runs.

R Sai Kishore’s team dominated the chase, winning comfortably by 9 wickets in just 11.5 overs. The highlight was Tushar Raheja’s unbeaten 65 runs, which anchored the innings.

With this defeat, Ashwin’s team’s run rate also took a hit, making their campaign more challenging moving forward.
