Renowned Pakistani television and film actress Mahira Khan has revealed that her husband, Salim Karim, strongly dislikes appearing in front of cameras.
Currently promoting her Eid release film Lo Gaye Raho, Mahira appeared alongside co-star Humayun Saeed on Nida Yasir’s morning show, where she responded candidly to the host’s signature questions.
When Nida Yasir asked how Mahira, known for being selective about her roles, chose Salim as her life partner, the actress replied that Salim had spent many years convincing her to marry him.
Mahira described her husband as a very shy man who avoids media attention. “He appeared in front of cameras for the first time only during our wedding video, which later went viral,” she said.
She further shared that Salim becomes visibly uncomfortable when people recognize him because of her. “Once in London, someone asked him if he was Mahira Khan’s husband, and he just replied with a simple ‘yes’ and said nothing more,” Mahira recounted.
When asked whether she is expressive about her emotions, Mahira responded affirmatively, saying, “I’m very expressive; I can’t hide my feelings. I also want my husband to be like me in that regard.”
Humayun Saeed also chimed in during the conversation, revealing that he knew about Mahira’s upcoming wedding two months before it happened and that she had even shared the date with him.
Mahira and Salim’s Wedding
Mahira Khan and Salim Karim tied the knot on October 1, 2023, in an intimate ceremony held at the scenic hill station of Bhurban. The event was kept completely private, with no media presence, and was attended only by close friends and family.
Salim Karim is a prominent businessman and the CEO of a digital payments company. Interestingly, he is also a professional DJ.
Mahira publicly acknowledged her relationship with Salim around 2019 and referred to him as her “special person” in a 2020 interview.
