Joe Root holds the record for the highest number of runs scored against India in Test cricket, having amassed 2846 runs in 30 matches.

India and England are set to face off in a five-Test series starting June 20 in Leeds. England’s top Test run-scorer, Joe Root, is anticipated to play a key role and could reach major milestones throughout the series.
Joe Root has a chance to create history, as he needs just 154 more runs in the upcoming five-Test series to become the first cricketer to score 3000 Test runs against India.
Since making his Test debut against India in December 2012, Joe Root has played 30 matches against them, scoring 2846 runs. He now needs just 154 more to reach the 3000-run mark.
In Test cricket, Joe Root, who ranks fifth on the all-time run-scorers list, has scored 10 centuries and 11 half-centuries against India. If he scores two more centuries in the upcoming series, he will surpass Steve Smith’s record of 11 Test tons against India.
Former England Test captain Joe Root is currently the leading run-scorer in the World Test Championship (WTC). If he scores 457 runs in the upcoming series against India, he will become the first batter to reach 6000 runs in WTC history.
In their most recent Test series in England, Root was in top form, scoring 564 runs in just four matches.
