


Forer Indian legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh shared his emotions on his friend Piyush Chawla retiring from cricket. Yuvraj even made a special post for Piyush on his social media account.

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla had announced his complete retirement from cricket on June 6. Now, one day after his retirement, India’s former allrounder Yuvraj Singh has heaped a lot of praises towards Piyush. Yuvraj placed Piyush Chawla in the category of a cricketer who performed well when the team needed him.
“Over the years, I’ve played alongside many teammates, but few have shown the resilience and dedication that Piyush Chawla brought to the park,” Yuvraj wrote on X.
“From bursting onto the scene as a teenager to becoming a two-time World Cup winner, PC you’ve built a career on delivering when it mattered. Over 450 first-class wickets, years of service for UP and Gujarat to being the 3rd-highest wicket-taker in IPL history. What stands out more than the stats is the way you carried yourself with calm, grit and commitment,” the post further read.
Piyush Chawla, who was a member of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, played his last international match on 22 December 2012 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which was a T20 match.
Piyush Chawla and his brilliant career:
Piyush, who made his debut in 2006, played three Tests, 25 ODIs and seven T20 matches in his six-year international career till 2012. He has seven wickets in Tests, 32 in ODIs and four in T20s.
If we look at his domestic cricket career, he has taken 446 wickets in 137 first-class matches, he has 254 wickets in 164 List A matches. Piyush played his last domestic match for Uttar Pradesh against Himachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In this match played in Mumbai, he took 4 wickets for 12 runs.
Piyush Chawla’s name is counted among the most successful bowlers in IPL history. Between 2008 and 2024, he played for Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, he took 192 wickets in 192 matches. He is jointly the third most successful bowler in IPL along with Sunil Narine (192 wickets).
