There are so many exciting things you can add to rice to give it a little boost. However, this one that is already in your kitchen will not only make rice tastier but also make it come out "beautifully fluffy".

This recipe for buttery seasoned rice shared on Nagi Maehashi's food blog is a quick and easy way to upgrade your rice. While the involves various seasonings, the key ingredient that will really top it all of and enhance the side dish is butter.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups of long grain white rice
  • 3 1/4 cups of water
  • 2 tsp chicken power
  • 1 tsp garlic power
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 50g / 3tsp butter, unsalted (or more)
Method
  • Place all rice ingredients in a large saucepan and give it a stir.
  • Bring to simmer over a medium high heat (edge bubbling, entire surface rippling), put the lid on and turn stove down to medium low (low for strong stoves). It should be simmering gently.
  • Cook for 13 minutes - do not lift lid.
  • Tilt pot then quickly peek to ensure all water is absorbed.
  • Remove from stove, let it stand for 10 minutes with lid on.
  • Add butter and fluff rice with a rubber spatula. Serve.
  • For those who prefer to cook their rice using a rice cooker, then you can still use this recipe. All you need to do is pop in the same ingredients into your rice cooker and cook it using the manufacturer directions, and then stir through the butter at the end.
