The remedy on vehicle component was said to have been implemented from May 3, 2025 and for the ultimate period. According to this letter, India believes that this remedy is a safigard measure in its design and influence in its design and impact in the context of GAT i.e. trade and customs 1994 and the agreement on security measures, as it aims to protect the American domestic industry from growing imports.
The letter said that the US failed to inform the WTO Committee on security measures. It states that in such a situation, India requests a consultation with the US as an affected member of the US in the respective products.
During this consultation, India would like to exchange views on safeguard. India has expected the US to get a reply as soon as possible at this request and set a convenient date and space for consultation.
