Two senior officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E. S. Jayaram, have resigned from their positions, PTI reported. Both submitted their resignations to the KSCA president, taking moral responsibility following the tragic stampede in Bengaluru that claimed 11 lives.
Earlier, KSCA President Raghuram Bhat, along with Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jayaram, had approached the Karnataka High Court, stating that crowd and gate management were not the responsibility of the association.
They had sought permission to host the RCB IPL victory celebration at Vidhana Soudha, which was conducted without any major issues.
However, a tragic turn of events unfolded outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where lakhs of fans gathered following a social media invitation by RCB — a post that was later deleted. The massive, unregulated crowd led to a stampede that claimed 11 lives, resulting in the cancellation of the victory parade, even as the event inside the stadium continued despite the tragedy.
