
At least 15 people were injured in a road accident involving two state-run buses at Mundur in Thrissur district during the early hours of Saturday. The incident took place around 5 AM, when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus en route to Guruvayoor rammed into the rear of a Karnataka state transport bus.
Among the injured was the KSRTC driver, who sustained serious injuries and is currently under observation, as per a report on Manorama. Several passengers also suffered varying degrees of trauma and were immediately shifted to Amala Hospital for medical treatment, reported Mathrubhumi. Emergency responders and local police reached the spot soon after the crash and assisted in evacuating the injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap. It is investigated whether poor visibility and possible speeding may have played a role. Officials are also reviewing surveillance footage and taking statements from the passengers involved.
Malayalam Actor's Dad Killed In Road Mishap
This incident follows close on the heels of another tragic accident involving Malayalam film actor Shine Tom Chacko and his family. Earlier this week, their car collided with a lorry on the Dharmapuri highway near Palacode while travelling towards Bengaluru. The crash claimed the life of the actor's father, Sibi Chacko (70), and left Shine and his mother injured. They are currently undergoing treatment at the Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital.
