
Mumbai: A 42-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances near the BDD Building No. 9 in Sewree, late Tuesday night. The deceased, Hasina Abdul Majid Sayyed, had sustained serious injuries and was declared brought dead at KEM Hospital. Her family suspects she was murdered. An FIR have been registered in RAK marg police Station under Section 103(1) of BNS against unknown person.
According to the police statement provided by her brother, Mohammad Salim Abdul Majid Sayyed (36), a laborer by profession, he was asleep at his Sewree godown residence when Deevichand Hiralal Jain (60), who reportedly lived with his sister, came to inform him of the incident. Jain told Salim that around 9:30 PM he had gone out to get food and upon returning found Hasina lying unconscious near Jai Hanuman Fitness Centre, close to BDD Building No. 9, Sewree.
Salim rushed to the spot and found his sister lying on her back, unresponsive. He noticed bleeding from her head, nose, and back, along with injuries to her neck and knees, and swelling on her nose and lips. Suspecting foul play, he immediately contacted the police.
Police arrived at the location and rushed the woman to KEM Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Based on Salim’s statement, the Sewree Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under Section 193 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) and have initiated further investigation.
Hasina, who was reportedly addicted to alcohol for the past three years, had previously separated from her husband Akram Dafaali and had been living with Jain. The exact nature of her relationship with Jain remains unclear.
Salim alleges that an unknown person attacked and murdered his sister for reasons yet unknown. He has demanded a full investigation and appropriate legal action against the unknown assailant. Police are now treating the case as a suspicious death and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. Efforts are underway to identify possible suspects and establish a motive.
