Bank holiday rules: Lakhs of bank employees across the country (bank employees news) have been demanding for many years that they should be made to work only 5 days a week and there should be 2 days off i.e. every Saturday and Sunday. The government has considered their demand.

Now banks will work 5 days a week (RBI 5-day working rule) and there will be 2 days off. An agreement has also been reached in this regard. Soon this rule will also be implemented, after which the working time in banks (bank working rules) will also change. Let us know this update related to this.

An agreement has been reached in this regard-

The possibility of bank employees getting leave every Saturday and Sunday (leaves in banks) is now increasing. An agreement has been reached in this regard between the Indian Banks Federation and bank employees unions (bank unions) but the government is yet to approve it.

If this rule is implemented, then government and private banks will come under the purview of this rule. Before implementing this rule, permission from the Reserve Bank of India is required and approval from the government is also required.

At present, banks have holidays on two Saturdays-

At present, bank employees have holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Bank unions are demanding holidays every Saturday (bank holiday list), that is, Saturday should be a holiday just like Sunday. This demand will likely be fulfilled soon.

Banking time will change -

If the government approves this proposal of 5 5-day week (5-day working rule), then the working hours in banks will also change. At present, banks open from 10 am to 5 pm (bank timing), but if the new rules are implemented, then banks will open from 9:45 am to 5:30 pm. That is, every day bank employees will work for 45 minutes longer. In return, they will get the benefit of two days off in a week (bank leaves). Customers will benefit from banks working for longer hours every day.

Employees are raising this demand-

In the year 2015, an agreement was reached for bank employees regarding work and leave in banks (bank news). Under this, the rule of giving leave to bank employees (bank employees leave rules) on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month was implemented. This agreement was made between the government, RBI, and IBA, so this rule (5-day week rule) was also implemented quickly. Since 2015, bank unions have been demanding to declare holidays every Saturday and Sunday (bank holidays rules).

Know when the rule will be implemented-

Now bank employees hope that there will be consensus on the 5-day week rule (5 day working rule in banks) at these three levels and the rule will be implemented. There is some consensus on this but the final approval of the government is yet to be received. It is expected that this rule (bank leaves new rules) will be implemented in a year or two.
