A great news has emerged for WhatsApp users. Now users will be able to hide their mobile number while chatting with an unknown person. The company is going to launch a new privacy feature, in which the conversation will be through username. That is, it will not be necessary to share the number to connect to someone now.
How will this new feature work?
Under this update, users will be able to make a unique username of their own, which other people will be able to start chatting with them. The special thing is that those who do not have your mobile number will only see your username, not the number.
Usernames to keep in mind while set:
- The username must have at least one letter.
- It should not start with “www” or “”.
- You can use lowercase letters, number and underscore.
- As soon as the username is made, a conflict animation will appear on the screen, which will make this process fun.
Will the number hide from everyone?
At the moment it is not clear whether this feature will apply only to unknown people or to all contacts. But according to reports, if a person who does not know your number, contacts you, he will only see your username.

Alert will be available on changing username
If you change your username later, then your contacts will get its notification, just as the profile comes on changing photos or status.
Big step in terms of privacy
In this digital age where everyone is cautious about their privacy, this new feature will make WhatsApp even more safe and reliable. Now users will be able to interact with anyone without any fear or hesitation – that too without sharing their personal information.
