In the last few years, the use of digital transactions has increased rapidly. Especially UPI users have increased a lot. The reason for this is that UPI has made the payment system very easy. You do not need to carry cash in your pocket all the time. You can transfer payment with one click through UPI. In India, systems like UPI are operated by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). But suppose while transferring payment, money goes to the wrong account by mistake, what will you do? Is there any way to get it back? Know about this here.

What to do if money is transferred to the wrong ID?

If you accidentally send money to the wrong UPI ID, do not panic. First of all, contact the person in whose account the money has gone by mistake. It is possible that the matter can be resolved through conversation and he may return your money. If that person does not return the money, then immediately contact the customer care number of the UPI app (Google Pay, Phone Pay, Paytm) from which the transfer has been done. Apart from this, you can ask for help from your bank in this matter or you can also complain to the NPCI portal.

For this, you can also call NPCI UPI complaint number 18001201740 and register your complaint. You can also register a complaint by visiting RBI's website https://rbi.org.in/Scripts/Complaints.aspx. If you take steps in time, you can also get your funds back.

If you miss this, the possibility of a refund will end
According to the new guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), if money is transferred to an account by mistake, then you have to complain about the matter immediately. It is necessary to register this complaint within 48 hours of the transaction. There is a possibility of a refund within 48 hours. If you delay the complaint even by mistake, then the possibility of a refund may end. For this, after making a payment through net banking and UPI, keep the message received on the phone safe. Do not delete it. If the recipient and payer bank are the same, then the refund will take less time. But if both have accounts in two different banks, then it may take some time for the money to be refunded.

Register a complaint on the NPCI portal like this.

First of all, go to the official website of NPCI https://www.npci.org.in/.

Click on the option of Get in touch. Fill in all the necessary information like name, and email ID.

After submitting, click on Dispute Redressal Mechanism.

Enter the transaction details under the complaint section.
When asked for the reason, select the option “Incorrectly transferred to another account” and submit..
