According to SBI Chairman C S Setty, the bank is developing a scalable strategy for long-term profits that is predicated on expanding fee-based revenue, offering low-cost deposits, and practicing strict cost control.
“We are creating a scalable model for long-term profits with robust CASA (Current Account and Savings Account) growth, digital cross-selling capabilities, and margin-sensitive asset allocation,” he said in a letter to the bank’s shareholders. In an annual report for 2024–2025, he said, “When combined, these strategic levers position us not only as India’s largest bank but also as its most forward-looking — balancing trust, scale, and innovation to deliver long-term value for customers and investors alike.” In FY25, SBI had a net profit of Rs 70,901 crore, which was 16% more than the Rs 61,077 crore recorded in the previous fiscal year.
He said that SBI is using sophisticated analytics for credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and early warning detection in order to achieve sustainable and risk-adjusted growth. “Our sector-specific risk frameworks are intended to support responsible lending in priority areas, such as infrastructure and MSMEs, and to improve asset quality,” he said. He said that SBI, as the biggest bank in India, has made boosting customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, market leadership, human resource capabilities, risk-adjusted growth, and profitability its top strategic priorities. He said that SBI is using automation and data-driven decision-making to streamline procedures in order to increase operational efficiency.
The bank has taken a number of actions, such as making onboarding easier, allowing voice banking in vernacular, and providing round-the-clock digital assistance, he added, emphasizing that the client experience is still at the heart of the bank’s growth strategy. According to him, SBI wants to provide a smooth and welcoming experience for all customers, especially for new markets in rural and semi-urban regions.
