New Delhi: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has shattered global records by securing a coveted Guinness World Record for the highest number of life insurance policies sold in a single day. On January 20, 2025—dubbed Mad Million Day—a staggering 5,88,107 policies were issued by 4,52,839 LIC agents across the country, according to a statement released Saturday.
This feat, officially recognised by Guinness World Records, marks an unparalleled level of agent productivity and dedication in the global life insurance industry. LIC described the milestone as a “powerful validation” of the unwavering commitment, efficiency, and diligence of its field force.
The record-setting effort was inspired by an appeal from LIC MD and CEO Siddhartha Mohanty, who urged every agent to complete at least one policy on January 20. The nationwide campaign was met with overwhelming participation, resulting in a historic achievement that reinforces LIC’s mission to offer essential financial security to millions of families.
More than just numbers, the day reflected the scale and reach of LIC’s agent network and its deep connection with the financial well-being of Indian households. The accomplishment not only sets a global benchmark but also celebrates the spirit of unity and purpose among LIC’s workforce.
