Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Thursday announced relaxation in the claim settlement process for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on Tuesday.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives in the terror attack, LIC said in a statement that it is committed to assisting the affected people and will expedite the settlement of claims to provide financial relief. LIC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) Siddharth Mohanty said that the insurance company has announced several concessions to reduce the difficulties of LIC policy claimants.
These documents will be valid for the claim.
He said that in place of the death certificate, any evidence present in government records of the death of the policyholder in a terrorist attack or any compensation paid by the Central/State Government will be accepted as proof of death. According to the statement, all efforts will be made to ensure that the claimants are reached and the claims of the affected families are settled promptly. LIC said that the claimants can contact the nearest LIC branch/division/customer areas for any kind of assistance or call 022-68276827.
